Vanyel Ashkevron is the main character in a series of books I read recently, The Last Herald-Mage Trilogy. I loved these books, they made me cry almost the entire time I read them.
The love that was expressed in those pages went beyond the grave several times, just the way I think it should be. Vanyel was being quite the hero as well, "Demonsbane", "Shadow Stalker", saving the entire kingdom of Valdemar from untold evils, and becoming the most powerful Herald-Mage that Valdemar had ever seen!
I think I got so involved in the character's story because of the name, Vanyel. So close to my own Daniel, my sweetheart. Of course, the two have little in common other than being phenominally good people, but hey...
After finishing these books, I was actually in a slight state of mourning, not wanting to start another book, wishing that it could have gone on for several more books' worth.
